We have all of us who went to the Mountain Lion Ranch on Sunday been eagerly awaiting Ryan Schude’s photos.

Because Ryan = brilliant.

Brilliant…and unpredictable. Because he has given us both photos AND a video.

He says in his description of this shot on Flickr that these shots didn’t work as individual photos nor as a cohesive video.

That is because he is from the midwest, where they feed folks lots of milk, cheese and humility.

Damn, things are good.

I’m in this! It was so fun to make, and came out totally amazing!

We had gone on a few dates and things were going quite well. When I agreed to come over for dinner, knowing full well that we’d probably be naked by the time you were done cooking as nothing turns me on more than a guy who knows his way around the kitchen, I was super excited about finally meeting that dog you keep talking about. But he didn’t greet me at the door. Nor did he come running out of the bedroom when I whistled for him. Hold up. You guys split up six months ago. I’m all for dudes remaining friendly with their exes, but you know this is a dog right? not a kid? You know that nothing says “I can’t let go and I’m totally not over her and I’ll probably call you by her name on accident during sex and you’ll never live up to her memory” than you sharing custody of a dog with her, right? There are a ton of needy dogs at the local animal shelter that don’t come with the baggage of the memory of a girl who dumped you, just waiting to have your full attention. Until then, your penis will have no visitation rights with my vagina.

I just sent this email to a friend who’s feeling low after a break-up. It’s kind of a mess, but I thought it might help some of you bitches out there who are feeling the same (Molls, I’m lookin at you).

So I went for a walk at lunch and I was listening to Savage Love podcast and this dude was calling cause his wife and he had been married for five years (he was only in his early 30’s and he sounded pretty cute) and they have two kids and they hadn’t had sex in like two years and he was thinking of cheating on her. And I started thinking like, dude, at one point his wife was single and really bummed about it and scared that she’d be single forever, and probably ditto with this guy who’s calling, and then they met each other and were totally in love and had great sex and I bet their wedding day was so beautiful and they were super happy together…but then you get bored. And then I was thinking about you and me and how stoked we should be about our lives, and how we should be trying SO. HARD. to stay single because we really have it pretty damn good. How sad would it be if we were stuck in a relationship we weren’t at all happy in because we had a kid or were married or even weren’t either of those things, we were just stuck because we were scared to be alone.

We’re really lucky, is all I’m saying. I’d love to have a dude to fuck and hang out with every now and then, but I’m kinda okay with you and Micah and Meghan and Kathy and Jonah and everyone else we know being my relationships right now, ya know? Lets get a fucking travel show and get paid to be creative. we are awesome girls. lets get some shoes.

It always throws me off to see color footage of things one normally only sees in black and white. Black and white footage and photographs are easier to romanticise, while when you see the same image in color, it becomes more real and mundane…more everyday. You realize that the people in the images are just living their damn lives, just like you’re doigng now. When I was a small child I thought that life used to be in black and white, and somewhere around the 1970’s, color was invented. I still remember how utterly flabbergasted I was when I realized I was incorrect. I think black and white images still hold that idea for me somewhere in the recesses of my mind, so when I see things like the above video, I’m still a little blown away.
